The “FishBone” diagram, also referred to as “Ishikawa” diagram or “Cause & Effect” Diagram is a Quality tool to be used to stratify and narrow down the potential causes for a problem (effect), based on which focused attention can be given to continue the root cause analysis.Īs a Quality professional, I do admit that on several occasions, this tool has not been applied the way it has been intended for.
